Plant Source

Blueberry extract is bilberry extract, which is a deep purple or purple fine powder extracted from blueberry fruit. It tastes bitter and is labeled with the content of blueberry proanthocyanidin. The fruit, leaves and pomace of blueberry are rich in anthocyanidins, flavonoids, polyphenols and polysaccharides and other bioactive substances, which are all natural antioxidants. It has the effects of protecting eyesight and preventing blindness; strengthening cerebral blood vessels, preventing cerebral vascular lesions, strengthening myocardial blood vessels, strengthening coronary arteries, strengthening gastric blood vessels, preventing rupture of glomerular capillaries and causing hematuria, urethritis and cystitis; strengthening veins, preventing varicose veins, preventing and treating ulcers; preventing arteriosclerosis; preventing the formation of blood clots.

[Chemical composition] Blueberries are rich in nutrients such as protein, fat, minerals, multiple vitamins, and a large number of bioactive substances such as anthocyanins, flavonoids, and polyphenols. They can be processed into nutritious blueberry foods and have health benefits. They are berries that combine nutrition and health. There are many types of flavonoid compounds in blueberries with high content, mainly anthocyanidins, flavanols, proanthocyanidins, and quercetin, which are the main active ingredients of this genus of plants. Anthocyanidins were studied the earliest. Now there are about 30 kinds of anthocyanins, of which 15 are common. Its pigment substances have five glycosides: anthocyanidin (also known as anthocyanidin), delphindin (also known as delphindin), malvidin (also known as malvidin), peonidin, and petunidin (also known as 3-methyl delphindin). There are three sugars: glucose, galactose, and arabinose. The monosaccharide to trisaccharide composed of these five glycosides and three sugar groups is the main anthocyanin (anthocyanins).

Efficacy and Function

 1. Antioxidant effect: Blueberry anthocyanin is a natural water-soluble free radical scavenger, and its antioxidant capacity is 20 times that of VC and 50 times that of VE. Blueberry anthocyanin has the ability to resist lipid peroxidation, reducing ability, and the ability to scavenge superoxide anion free radicals and hydroxyl free radicals. Blueberry pomace flavonoids have strong antioxidant capacity, especially the antioxidant capacity of purified flavonoids is enhanced. The scavenging capacity of blueberry pomace total phenols for DPPH is 26.7mgVc/g fresh weight. The scavenging capacity for oxygen free radicals is 24.8mgVc/g fresh weight. Blueberry polysaccharides have strong scavenging capacity for oxygen free radicals and DPPH.

2. Antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects: Blueberry extract can inhibit the growth of harmful bacteria and promote the proliferation of beneficial bacteria. Studies have shown that blueberry extract has inhibitory effects on Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Vibrio parahaemolyticus, and adding an appropriate concentration of blueberry extract to fermented milk can promote the in vitro growth of beneficial bacteria Lactobacillus acidophilus. Wang Jing et al.'s research confirmed that blueberry anthocyanins can increase the pain threshold of mice, inhibit ear swelling, and have obvious analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects.

3. Protect vision: prevent blindness, glaucoma, cataracts, retinal hemorrhage, improve myopia, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, pigmentary retinitis and night blindness. The retina is located in a high-oxygen environment, and long-term visible light exposure is susceptible to oxidative damage. Blueberries contain a variety of bioactive ingredients that protect vision. Studies by Meng Xianjun and others have shown that blueberry anthocyanins can make the retinal structure of light-damaged rats clear and the cells neatly arranged; effectively prevent the thinning of the retinal outer nuclear layer and the reduction of retinal total protein content; significantly increase the SOD and GSH-Px activities of retinal cells and reduce MDA content. Blueberry anthocyanins have a significant protective effect on retinal damage in rats.

4. Tumor inhibition: The anti-cancer effect of blueberry anthocyanins has been confirmed in a variety of cell culture systems. Jin Junhua studied the in vitro inhibitory effect of blueberry extract on the proliferation of human colon cancer cell line HCT116. The results showed that blueberry extract can induce the increase of Caspase-3, a key apoptosis protein in HCT116 tumor cells, significantly inhibit the expression of NF-kB protein, induce apoptosis of HCT116 tumor cells, and inhibit their in vitro growth and proliferation.

5. Cerebrovascular: Strengthen cerebrovascular, prevent cerebrovascular disease, strengthen myocardial blood vessels, strengthen coronary arteries, strengthen kidney blood vessels, prevent glomerular capillary rupture and hematuria, urethritis and cystitis. Strengthen veins, prevent varicose veins, prevent ulcers. Prevent arteriosclerosis; prevent the formation of blood clots.

6. Capillaries: Increase the flexibility of capillaries, which can promote blood vessel expansion and elasticity, and prevent blood vessel rupture. Bilberry can strengthen the capillaries in the eyes, and of course it can also strengthen the capillaries in other organs and tissues of the body, so as to prevent blood vessel diseases in various organs.

In addition, blueberry extract also has the effects of preventing cardiovascular diseases, inhibiting obesity, improving diabetes and preventing osteoporosis.

Blueberry Extract Of  Application :

1.Medical and healthcare: Blueberry extract is rich in antioxidants that help prevent diseases such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, and diabetes. It is also used to improve vision and protect eye health.

2.Food industry: Blueberry extract is often added to food as a natural colorant and preservative. It is also used to make foods such as juice, jam, ice cream, and cakes.

3.Cosmetics and personal care products: Blueberry extract is used in skin care and hair care products because it has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that help protect the skin from environmental pollution and UV damage.

4.Drug development: Chemical components in blueberry extract are used in drug development to treat inflammation, infection, and other diseases.

In general, blueberry extract has a wide range of applications in medicine, food, cosmetics, and drug development.
