Cardiotonic effect
Hawthorn can increase myocardial contractility, increase cardiac output and slow down heart rhythm.
2. Effect on coronary blood flow and myocardial oxygen consumption
Hawthorn extract and its total flavonoids can increase coronary blood flow and reduce myocardial oxygen consumption and myocardial oxygen utilization.
3. Help digestion
Hawthorn contains vitamin C, vitamin B, carotene and various organic acids. Oral administration can increase the secretion of digestive enzymes in the stomach, enhance the activity of enzymes and promote digestion. Hawthorn alcohol extract has a two-way regulatory effect on the activity of stimulated gastric smooth muscle in rats, indicating that Hawthorn has a significant regulatory effect on gastrointestinal dysfunction, so as to strengthen the spleen and eliminate food.
4. Anticancer
The blocking effect of hawthorn extract on the synthesis of benzylnitrosamine in vivo and its cancer induction, and the inhibitory effect of hawthorn extract on human embryonic lung 2BS cells and induced cells.
5. Antibacterial
Hawthorn Decoction and ethanol extract have antibacterial effects on Shigella flexneri, Shigella sonnei, diphtheria, Candida albicans and Escherichia coli.
6. Inhibit platelet aggregation and antithrombotic
The total flavonoids, the active ingredient of hawthorn, can accelerate the electrophoresis of platelets and red blood cells, significantly reduce the electrophoresis time, improve hemodynamics, increase the surface charge of red blood cells and platelets, increase the repulsion between cells, accelerate their flow rate in blood, promote axial flow, and reduce side flow, aggregation and adhesion.
7. Antihypertensive effect
Hawthorn ethanol extract has a long-lasting antihypertensive effect.
8. Hypolipidemic effect
Different extracts of hawthorn have certain lipid-lowering effects on various high-fat models caused by different animals, and can inhibit the increase of serum cholesterol and triglyceride caused by high-fat feed
