Function of silymarin


1. Liver protection

Silymarin is the main active component of liver protection. It has the effect of regeneration, can stimulate the formation of new hepatocytes and improve liver function; At the same time, it can protect hepatocyte membrane, prevent cytotoxin from infiltrating hepatocytes, and improve the recovery ability of membrane structure defect.


2. Oxidation resistance

The phenolic hydroxyl group of silymarin provides hydrogen atom and has strong antioxidant effect. They have free radical scavenging properties and anti lipid peroxidation activity.


3. Reduce blood lipid

Silybin can inhibit the plasma membrane Ca2 + channel of adult rat cardiomyocytes, inhibit food induced hypercholesterolemia, reduce very low density lipoprotein (VLDL) and low density lipoprotein (LDL), and increase high density lipoprotein (HDL). It can be used in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases.
